    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

Is this a good idea for an AS site, or not?

    Hi all,

I'm running AS ads on my regular website now, and some of my blogs (along with some affiliate stuff). I've written print books in the past that were collections of resources, sources, etc. for certain subjects...in other words, a directory. Mine were different, though, because I wrote short paragraphs about each supplier, along with short stories, facts, etc.

I've thought about bringing that to the net and doing something similar, but am afraid that all the outgoing links to the individual sites would just take visitors away from my ads. Especially since a lot of those sites I'd link to also run AS and Amazon. I could get something like this together very quickly.....but is it really a good idea? Would enough people appreciate the information long enough to stay on my site and look through the AS ads, perhaps shop with my affiliates, etc.???

    Thanks for any thoughts....

One thing you could do is place the AS ads among the directory listings rather than over or to the side. That way, they are in the natural path of their eyes as they browse your listings. Bonus points if you can make your listings look like the ads.

I say, give it a try. if the work involved isn't tons for you, you can only profit!

I definitely would give it a try. Perhaps you could make an extra page with a small overview of the site where the outgoing link is heading to, that might keep your visitor stay at your site a little longer. Put Adsense and a back button right next to the outgoing link.

Hope you understand what I mean, I'm not native English.

Whether people will appreciate what you provide is unknown to us, but if what you provide *is* of interest, you don't need to worry about related out-going links. Yes, they do "take people away" but if your content is of value, they'll be back to read more and the ads should work (all else being equal).

Look at it this way: are you more likely to return to a site that never gave you any resources but its own or one that helped you by giving you off-site links of value? We're all the same: we go back to the honest sites that have good content.

    HI

Is this directory somthing people would be willing to pay for?

You could make it into an ebook, build a site that gave information about it, maybe some examples with the contact details obscured and sell it via that site.

It is a quick and simple process to create the book if you allready have the information and one download at $10 a time is equal to a lot of AS clicks, although you could also have AS on the site.
