Is this legal?

Can someone please tell me if this is legal or not, I need to know. I'm on a site called "oDesk", a freelancers site. Some of the jobs on there are things that I could do quite easily. I've signed up and everything, and I've had experience with freelancing before. I'm 13 and can't fill out an ID form until I'm 16. I was wondering if it's legal for a parent/guardian to sign it for them, so the money goes to their account, then they give the child money???

    I'm in the UK.

Yes, That is fine you don't really have to say much about it, even if they don't like it the worst they can do is banned you which I doubt they will do!

I have an account and Im 14.. so you will be fine don't worry (Plus how would they know if its you or your parent?)

But it's nice to see someone around my age also making money online :)

It probably isnt legal, but realistically no one would ever check or know, so just do it. Just have your parent/guardian fill it out as if it were them and you do the work.

Good for you working on making money at such an early age.

It is only illegal if they only allow 18+ users on their website. But there is no rule set on age when it comes to knowledge. So you can ask your parents to sign up on oDesk then you can work on the projects.

Submit the photo ID of the person registered on the site, so if it's under your father's name then submit your father's ID. end quote.

Yeah, what's the worst that could happen? You'll get a ban, no biggie!

If this is the case, i suggest you to get permit from your parent and use their name/ID to create an account. Then, it shall be fine

I think most people here dont understand this is not about the site registration problem he is asking but it is basically against child labor laws, that is why they have a age restriction. This will also most likely be reported on tax forms and such. So as I mentioned before just have parent register fully as them, then you do the work. There is no way for anyone to check who does the work. When your parent receives payment, have them give it to you. Done deal.

I think you may write a letter to the support of this site and explain your situation.

as fas as an freelance on odesk i do not see any problem in opening an odesk account being a 13 years old child. only problem occurs when you want to verify your account via your ID card. tell me why you need it? after making 100% your profile you can have 20 bids. when you apply for master card then use your parents' or some relative's ID card.then your payoneer master card will be in your door, then start working and earn money. when you get 18 then verify your account that time. no problem.

I just used my parents name/SS # when I was young to freelance on sites like that. Don't know if this would work for you but just ask your parents to help.
