I'm designing a new site www.cook-thai.com (I know there are a few bugs in the site at the moment such as forgetting to link back to the index.html file in the menu bar)...

What i'm worried about is the ad placements, could someone please reveiw them for me. They are only on the title page at the moment, but will be rolled out site wide in the same position once I've got my content together and the video files ready. (only 1 recipe at the moment, will be 7 by lunch tuesday)...

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I can only see one ad though :S.

Thanks, the ad will be replicated throughout the site,

is just one ad per page fine? as I do not want the site covered in ads as I believe less is better to make it a quality site.

thanks trichnosis for the advice, I might have to reconsider the ad placement, i'm working on this site and abouit 3 others at the same time.

I did not want too many ad's on the site, as I have some premium content to go up on the site. I've got a Thai chef to make videos for the site, and speak in english on them. So the idea was for this site to make it by work of mouth due to excellent quality, and make money from the Video section (there will be about 4 or 5 free videos).

Ad placement is not optimal I know, so all and any advice would be welcome, but i without content i do not want to abuse the google TOS, content will take a similar form to the template I created (I'll be using the chefs own recipes and not one cut and pasted into the site to test formatting).

What I was worried about was having the ads beneath a picture on the left hand side, and if this was against googles TOS. ( I know that google will lets some people get away with TOS abuse, but I do not want to abuse the google adsense program). A good example of abuse is http://www.365daysout.co.uk/argyle-restaurant.html (not my site)

Thanks for the advice and I'll check the forums for ideas on ad placement. I'm just a bit annoyed I put some content on 1 day after the last google update. (3 months to wait for any major postition change)..

Good job on taking your visitors into consideration. It's not always about slapping as many ads on as possible. What I would recommend though is opting out of the Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up program. This should help with the blending of your ad unit.

    Good luck! :)
