What a silly boy I was on Saturday night. I put a jug of hot chocolate on the shelf above my laptop and surprise surprise the whole lot spilled onto the keyboard. It just so happens I did exactly the right thing and switched the power off immediately and drained the thing before switching it back on. So far it seems like it's only the keyboard that's a bit dodgy. I bought some air duster spray which seems to have done the trick but the things still a bit sticky.

There's a new rule for the computer now which is no food or drink near the thing lol
    1. Switch Power off immediately - Remove any batteries and/or power sources as the liquid will fry the circuitry if electricity is passing through it.
    2. Tip your laptop from side to side draining any excess liquid. You could also take it apart if you feel comfortable doing so to drain it as much as possible.
    3. Let it dry for about 24 hours before even thinking about turning the power back on.
    4. I bought some air duster from Comet for £7.99 to get rid of as much debris as possible.

Or you could just do what I've done now and made a rule which is no food or drink near the computer :)

    I'm such an idiot.

You forgot to dunk it in the bathtub a few times to make sure all the hot chocolate was gone.

I run a heavy schedule ship where the work continues into the night sometimes. This means that sugary or cafeine drinks must be consumed to keep the produce rattling on. The consumption shall now take the form of a 5 minute break.. in a different room

LMFAO - hot choc keyboard LOL

I spilled a pint of fine ale on my old keyboard last year, drained it and when it (eventually) dried it had gone all crusty... none of the keys worked, they just got stuck, it was a nightmare, though a good excuse to go wireless :)

But that gave me a good chuckle, cheers dude :D

Your welcome Lever, just keep those positive reps coming in :)

Apparently it's also a good idea to put it in the freezer as it slows down the corrosion while you can go and get screw drivers, hair dryers, air dusters etc to drain that baby of his poison juice.

I've had him on all day today and he seems to be doing fine. :)

The solution is to get yourself a gobook computer which is waterproof and shockproof. It's a bit pricey, but it will certainly handle your diet of hot chocolate :)

    LOL @ Weir!

I've spilled something in my keyboard before. Except it wasn't hot chocolate..It was just a bit G&T and the computer wasn't even on.
I totally forgot about spilling it in my keyboard, and for weeks I was typing like this:

    ''omg+whatis+wrong+withmykeyboard+It+wontletme+type+properlyyikes++!''

I thought I'd got a virus or something.

Ah, ...the way the mind of a dumb blonde works is astonishing.

I might go for 1 of those. The saving of all those 5 minute breaks will be paid back within maybe a year or 2 or 3...
