I've been phished

I'm not sure which category to post this in, but this seems OK.

Yesterday I received a letter by express post from a company called Logistic Telecom. It was very professional looking, company letterhead and all. It turned out to be a hilarious scam.

I found the title of this thread funny and like it. LOL...

 

I love the send $20 to work for us. Legitimate or not, that's pretty funny.

LOL that is funny. I really wonder how many people fall for these scams. I receive about 100 or so a day on anything from Paypal to my account with a company I have never heard of being frozen if I do not change my password immediately. Hard to believe the length they go to.

 

They are getting more creative though. Someone tried to "phish" for my eBay account the other day (not sure why). Pretended to be an old guy send me a message through eBay wanting to buy a wheelchair for himself. It then said, click here to reply to his message and took me to a login page. Now, what could anybody do with my eBay account and password??

Then, i thought a lot of people probably have the same account user and password for eBay and Paypal, right? Well, some might do anyway.

I felt sorry for the "poor old guy" at first. I still can't believe I nearly fell for it, after all these years!

 

Call the number and let us know what happens. I'm thinking it's just a bunch of numbers they through together and have no idea who's phone number it is.

 

LOL I get that one at least 2 times a day. So I like to mess with them and put in some off the wall stuff. Would like to see their reaction.

 

With a phone number - something I have not seen before, they are getting more and more brazen

 

LOL that is pretty bold. Give it to the local FBI office and let them have the fun with them.

 

There is no FBI in Canada

I think I'll call them today, see what happens

 

I just called the phone number. As I expected, it was an answering service:
'Hi, you've reached Logistic Telecom, blah blah blah, leave a message'

the the operator's voice indicating that the mailbox is full.
I only hope that it's full of people who've called to tell them off, not to give out further personal info.

 

Lets hope so frank. Dos'nt canada have a law enforcement agency that would handle this type of thing?

 

I'm sure they do, but I've never dealt with anything of the sort. I don't have the slightest idea where to start

 

I would call your local law enforcement and ask them how to proceed. These type of people need to be put out of business that is for sure. Good luck on it though.

 

You would at least think that the "phishers" would spend a few bucks to hire someone to write copy at better than a fourth-grade level. Some of the horrendous English in the "Help-us-get-millions-out-of-Africa" emails is actually hilarious.

 

LOL I agree Jim. I get them all the time and they talk about how they are the CEO of a company and they are unable to even come close to the correct spelling of many words.

WHAT THE FUNK??? LOL If they really want to trick people into thinking they're a real company they's gots ta look ats they's grammar
