    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

I've got $5,000...what should I spend it on?

    No-one has yet mentioned content.

You could quite easily build a huge content website on any broad niche, covering up to 300+ reasonably searched for key phrases, starting from the most popular competative words, to the least competative but still searched for phrases.

With content writers charging just $5.00 per article, you could purchase 800 articles with $1,000 remaining to purchase a directory listing at Yahoo, perhaps a few high PR links and kick start the site with a directory submission service from directorysubmission.net or similar.

Choose your Keywords wisely, hold back a few hundred articles and keep updating the site consistently, gaining a few back links here and there as you go, and you really shouldn't have a problem with getting a nice return on that investment within 12 months. It's all profit from there on out.

You have the money to build the best website on any given topic. A broad niche will allow you to create a massive website on a subject covering almost every aspect of it.

That is if you would like to develop a content website, using AdSense to monetize.

There are many hit and miss options - like coming up with an original service or idea and contracting a developer to build it for you and then buzz your way to riches through clever PR but if you're looking for stable and consistent earnings I would choose a content site anyday.

    Good luck!

    Pete

websites are ok if you know how to pick a good one.

You figure it should pay off in under a year if left alone... if you work at promoting it and adding or updating content/design you can probably cut that down to under 8 months.

Don't forget, once you've worked at pumping up the profit you can now sell that website for a lot more than you paid, plus you keep the profits it earned to date... or just keep it as long as it's profitable.

I have an adult rate me site which takes £10 GBP (approx $17.50 USD) per sign up
for $5000 I would give you the site and throw 1.5 million hits at it for you
just a mere conversion rate of 0.1% turn around would give you a £15,000 GBP (approx $26,250 return)

so over all its not a bad deal

How many signups so far? How many this year? What's the traffic? How about earnings? Where will the 1.5 million hits come from?

sounds like an interesting interesting idea...

I'd say spend some of it on yourself like a holiday and then find something else to spend the rest on. If I had the money I would spend some money creating a good site and then use the rest to bring traffic to it. Once its getting loads of traffic just put some adverts on it and you'll start bringing the money in...... hopefully, or else you've just blown $5000. :p

i have been doing it since august last year and have had 164 sign ups, however i gave away the first 50 to get people interested cos no one like an empty site.

I would simply have traffic diverted from somewhere like comus.
The site gets around 300 uniques per day anyway from various link farms

I just dont have time or cash to run it any more .. I want to sell and run, and throw what bit of cash i walk away with into one of my other sites to build that up to sell

Carl05: Not bad but doesn't really add up to a $5000 website... not to me anyway.

Have you tried selling it here on DP? (in the website buy/sell area)
You might be able to get a good price for it.

never thought of selling it before to be honest .. was just thinking what to do with $5k .. lol ...
It has got loads of potential for the person with the cash to throw at it
as i say .. since august I have taken approx $2800 but have used that to build up my business (i actually have a web hosting company) so now got no cash to spend for around 8 months to a year
It might sound silly but it is an awsome investment opportunity

I would maybe accept even say half of the price and split everything 50/50 with the new owner, knowing what a good offer it is

Take $1000 and register domains over a 1-2 month period.

Take $1000-$2000 and buy a website.

Take $1000 and build a site that you are passionate about. Hire designers and programmers if needed.

Take the remainder and advertise. Text links, google, or whatever.

Wait and pray you took the right steps. As in any investment the more you diversify the less the risk. You have 3 ways to get off the ground in my scenario.

Personally, I would find a solid wholesaler and open an eBay Store. Preferably a product that you have some interest in (i.e. electronics, books, clothing, etc.) With about $2,500 you can fill a room in your house with product. Eventually, you can open a seperate ecommerse site for yourself, if you want. (For example, EForcity.com & user eforcity on eBay)

I am looking for a business partner for the following project I started:

Concept: to provide a secure file depository with certification from "legal witness" (public notary).

Purpose: This will be a complementary services to U.S. Copyright registration, which will satisfy (I think) most of people's needs for securing their authorship. This service will be less restrictive/faster/cheaper, than official copyright registration. Anyone who will pay a reasonable fee of $10-15, will receive a "copyright certificate", which could be posted on his/her website or included with a "product" (a song, postcard, design etc). In case when someone attempts to "steal" author's work and author decides to take legal actions against that person, it will be up to court to determine who is the "real" author. From our part we will provide a legal proof that someone who identified himself as "author" submitted to us this file on certain date. In my opinion this proof will be crucial in resolving this matter, because most likely the one who will be accused of stealing this artwork won’t have any proof.

While developing this concept I discovered this thing, that if you google the term "copyright certificate" , it will return a lot of results while searching through government sites return nothing. I think that there is no legal term such as 'copyright certificate'(a) or "copyright declaration"(b). The legal term used by officials is 'copyright registration'.

This fact allows obtaining a TM or SM, because the service I described above totally qualifies for it. I also researched U.S. Trademark Database for trademark's availability and found that both terms' ((a) and (b)) service marks and and trademarks are available.
Obtaining (TM) for this service will allow providing "Official Copyright Certificate" or "Official Copyright Declaration" services (notary certified and protected by ‘trademarked’ service).

Since trademark rights are gained by actual use of a mark, rather than by registration, I created a web "prototype" for future functionality and 'certified' half-dozen sites. This prototype could be seen at copyrightcertificate.com

You can see examples at danielphoto.com (at the bottom, click on on certificate to see in full-size).

There are many optional services, that could be offered to customers - from domain registration, security certificates to hosting etc.. Some of the options are listed on current site.

In my original plans both domains (CopyrightCertificate.com , CopyrightDeclaration.com) , will be providing identical services: the only difference that one will be a paid service (advertising free), and another one will give away 'free certificate' with a little 'extra', like ‘embedded’ google's adword /yahoo ad. I estimated that certification of one submission/account will cost around me around $0.003, while one click on adword's ad brings minimum $0.05 .
I think that both sites have a chance to become popular pretty fast, because ‘certified’ sites will be linking back to us for certificate/declaration verification.

This business doesn't require any major investment to be run: it won't need any dedicated servers and could be run from shared hosting

    Recurring expenses:
    - Hosting $90 per year | 20GB of space | 1 TB Traffic (@ DreamHost.com with $30 off coupon (NEW30OFF) (more than enough, since all submitted files will be downloaded once a week to - DVD , certified and archived.)
    - SSL Certificate: $35-45 per year

    One time expenses:
    - DVD burner + blank dvd: $40;
    - Public Notary license: $100 / 1 day course;

$1500-1800 will cover the development of fully 'automatic' solution, which will generate certificates, (after processing the payment through cc gateway)
$1000 - 1500 to start up marketing campaign.

    SIDE SERVICES
    1. domain name registration with certification
    2. Search for stolen content like http://www.copyscape.com

It will be useful to get in touch with some lawyer, invite him to host his/her blog on our site, and will answer all legal questions. In exchange he/she will have exclusive right to all our customers.

If this is something you might be interested - let me know.
    Regards,
    Dmitri

Buy a website which is earning decently. I know what you mean about not seeing quality websites. But if you wait for a week or so and closely follow all the 'website sales' thread, you will see a nice one coming in for sale every week or so.

    Hi

I really don't know your POI (plan of implementation) or your required ROI (return on investment) and your planned time factor. More than that, I don’t know your level of know-how in this market.

So I am taking you for a newbie, who is familiar with the market (if you don’t mind)

Now, if you are a little tight (with funds), try joining something that will give you a quick rate of return.

That is to say, if you put in 100 and get back 200 in less than a month, you have additional 100 to play with. Likewise, keep building up small tidy sums, and slowly invest your earnings into a SOLID long / mid-term plan

Please note that if you clearly know what you want, this advice is useless.

I can recommend a few areas so as to get you started, but note like any marketer, my advice is a little biased, i.e., (something I should profit as well)

Now, there are so many methods, but it is the quick income generating ones are the ones you should be focusing on the first month. So, start of with investing in any of these schemes (ads given below).

Most of these (avenues/ areas) are also a favorite with AdWords at the moment (but these can change). If you are familiar with AdWords, it makes it all the more easy. If you are not , there are so many good books out there (and a new cracker, that has been released and sold out recently).

Right now, the online dating niche is hot – check it out. Of course there are real estate, cell phones, background checks and on and on. But give online dating a try. It is also worth your while with AdWords at the moment.
    http://www.marketingaffiliater.com/make-money/online-dating.html

More options can be found here
    http://www.marketingaffiliater.com/make-money/

Also check out ebooks with resell rights – this is an easy to kick off, if you are familiar with the market. (This is the only link; I have with me, but should suffice)
    http://www.marketingaffiliater.com/affiliate-products/ebooks.html

You can always check at the ClickBank Mall, if you need more selections of any product/ service.

Before starting out, its obvious you are gonna need a site.
Check out (Expired Traffic). It’s something really worth looking into.

    http://www.expiredtraffic.com/?led2
As everyday hundreds of developed and thriving websites expire, but yet these sites still receive endless traffic from the search engines and links to them. You can use these hot sites, make use of their expired traffic, and make money

Or if you are searching for expired domain names, that have market value, check them out first before getting your own fancy thingmajig.com. Below mentioned are two links for that
    http://www.expireddomainexpress.com/affiliate/afflist/ditto20.htm
    http://www.bizmint.com/index/comic23

Of course, there are also affiliate programs and affiliate networks – leave that for your second phase, but keep signing up with networks as and when you get time.
    http://www.marketingaffiliater.com/affiliate-marketing/affiliate-networks.html
    http://www.marketingaffiliater.com/

Then there is always the MLM’s and downlines that generate quick income. Now I am not really focused in this area at the moment, other wise I can perhaps direct you to the correct sources. However, the below mentioned ones are good and worth giving a try.
    http://www.profitrally.com/jump.php?url=2423

The below one, I am not so sure, but I had joined it sometime back for kicks. Give it a try; after all it’s a downline!
    http://downlineincome.com/members/mark5

There are also surfing options, randomizers, paid mail etc… if you are really interested.
But most important, don’t take on too many things at one time.

    FOCUS is essential

Also, try and get hold of as much free resources

As I had started of on a shoestring budget, hence the precautionary approach.

This is only just out of concern that you will go and misspend somewhere.

As I said earlier, if you are familiar and sure of what you want, just pass this on to any other person, starting off

Lastly, I didn't realise that links work only after 10 or 20 posts - hence the blank ones!

Bye for now and wishing you the best
