I've tried using Joomla but I found it to be too complex to use compared to wordpress. I think the advantage Joomla has over wordpress is that you can create more layout options than you can with wordpress plus managing multiple content types is easier (at least that's what it seems to me when I was testing it out). But the learning curve was much higher than wordpress for me. It was a lot easier to set up wordpress and find a template that had a layout that I wanted and use that. Of course, this was a few years ago. Joomla may have gotten easier but Wordpress has gotten more robust as well. If your needs are mostly blog posts and posting ads, wordpress is probably the easiest between the two.

No doubt that the world of websites is increasing day by day and so is the demand. And, to be able to make it easier for the owners to make a wise choice between these two CMSs to be able to come up with a website keeping in consideration the requirements of the business project. Therefore, we would be incorporating some of the basic and the most important differences that lie between the two i.e., Joomla! and Drupal

    Never tried Wordpress.
Joomla is not complex for me. I have some tutorials/help videos and Ebooks. You can manage everything easily in Joomla.
If you're going for Joomla use version above 1.5.18 (highly recommended 1.6 version)

    WordPress rules. Why?

    1. Easy and user-friendly
    2. Enhanced secured (very less to non security issues as compared to other CMS)
    3. Thousands of plugins
    4. Search engine friendly (my favorite)

    Enjoy!

I prefer to use Wordpress over Joomla. I find wordpress to be much more user friendly, and the plugins that wordpress offers are great! I like how you can find a plugin for almost anything, and the support forums at Wordpress are great. I can usually get an answer to any of my issues within 10-15 minutes!

I would disagree with this. When Wordpress originally came out, it was a blogging software. Wordpress today is a full fledged Content Management System.

This is like asking whether someone likes ford, dodge, chevy, or toyota the best. Depending on who you ask, your going to get a different answer.

I have used both wordpress and joomla. Once I got the hang of wordpress, I found it easier to use the joomla. I used joomla for about 6 - 8 months on the project and still found it confusing and hard to use. On the other hand, I got the hang of wordpress in a matter of weeks.

As you move on, you will realise WordPress is more beneficial than Joomla or Drupal. WordPress has immense support worldwide and easier than any other CMS.

If you get struck anywhere while using WP then you can easily Google the problem and have it sorted within less time.

Hope you are getting my point of view.

    Thanks! :)
