Joomla or Wordpress?

I am aiming to create a site where I can write up my university notes so that people can access them. Kind of like a Wiki but not quite. It is definitely not a blog.

Which CMS would you recommend I use, and any potential extensions?

    Thanks

i think a blog engine is exactly what it needs.. you need a sumple way to organize categories with sub categories, and post a quick posts in each one, no?

Wordpress is not only a blog platform. There are many types of themes that support this. You can create the notes and then use this plugin for members. Those members could then access the notes. http://wordpress.org/plugins/members/

the point about using wordpress is because it has thousands of plugins and extensions that makes it universal and flexible for many needs and many site realizations. of course you can achieve the same with Drupal or ModX for example (both very flexible even more than WP) but your brain will overheat while trying to do the basic things in these difficult CMSs :)
good luck with the project, use simple engine to save headache :)
