Knowing what to do when a friend reaches out for help

    Howdy all,
    To cut a long story short I had a friend contact me yesterday indicating that they had attempted suicide and failed, but made it clear they would try again. That is not what I am here to discuss.

    Luckily due to some helpful friends and professional contacts I was able to find the right people to contact and get this friend admitted to emergency to seek the proper assistance and care that they needed.

    I am wondering however, how many of you would know the questions that you need to ask if this happened to you, has it ever happened and did you know how to handle it. I found myself luckily falling back to my volunteer training from early last year in regards to helping people who may be experiencing mental health issues but I began to think that it is really a largely shunned issue and was curious to find out how others would react... would you know what to do if a friend said this to you and how to find the right help from them to ensure they know they have support?
