A friend in the agriculture told me that a big corporation is creating chicken in labs with no feet, beak and feathers and will be fed thru a tube. He claims that this chicken will be marketed very shortly. Would you eat it or what would be the concern.

From an ethical point of view this would be a meat source without the animal suffering as the chicken will be devoid any senses.

    That's pure evil.

I eat meat but subscribe to the theory that "the animals should have one bad day". Until then they should be in a paddock, with other animals eating a natural food source. What your friend describes is not that far removed from how geese are treated for foie gras. The chickens would still be sentient but unable to move, or respond to their own thoughts.

Now, I've heard that they'll soon be able to grow beef in a petri dish without a living creature involved. I don't fancy that but at least it's not cruel.

Seriously, though, if it has a brain, how is it devoid of any senses?

From what I was told that they won't be sentient, they will be fed thru a tube and discharge thru a tube also, they dont want to waste feed on waste on beeks, feather and feet. The guy whom I was talking to had first hand knowledge and I was told that fast food places are very close to serving this chicken.

The science is simple: remove the chicken's cerebral cortex and thus remove its sense perception.

It needs a brain if it's going to grow.
Humans don't deserve this planet. I would seriously boycott any outlet using this stuff.

So, cute guy at the bar, what do you do?
I fry the brains of chickens because that's more convenient than raising them in a barn.

I see. So it's more like a robot than a chicken.

Have you seen how social media has affected the food industry?

It just seems that evil is a shape shifter, they seem to be one of the most evil entities on the planet. But no I am not aware how the food industry has changed by social media.

It is, in some countries. When you start to get "grass fed beef" being special instead of normal you know that we've seriously screwed up. People ask in facebook groups if Anchor butter is ok because the packaging doesn't reassure the customer that the cows have been treated humanely and so they automatically assume that NZ farmers are arseholes.

You go to your local supermarket and they have a small "health food" section. Well, what the hell is the rest of the stuff they're selling?

Because you seem to be defending the idea of zombie chickens

True but don't you think chickens are an exception, though? It's not like you can just let chickens run around in the wild. I mean you can, but they wouldn't last long.

    You can and they do.
However, I accept the reality of mass production. Doesn't mean it's right to turn them into zombies.
Maybe we just have to accept that to farm chickens with reasonable animal husbandry techniques the price of chicken will rise and other meat sources that are cheaper to produce humanely will become relatively cheaper.

It's not a human right to eat chicken. We take it for granted but we shouldn't.
