The amount of rep you get depends on the givers own rep, post count and the amount of time the've been a member here.

 

I am pretty sure the default is

You start with 1 and
1 rep point for every green blob over 1
1 rep point for every 1000 posts (Or was it 2,500 ?)
1 rep point for every year here

If you are new or are in the red yourself you have 0 during that time

Nintendo will propbably clarify as I think he has it memorized

 

Unless Shawn changed it I think the default starting rep for vB is 10 points.

 

Thats the default amount of rep you get. I think this person was talking about the default amount of rep power.

The admins rep power default is 10.

Yep, I think that's correct *Looks at my vBulletin settings* (No, I didn't memorize it!) 1,000 posts, each year since you registered, I think it's per 100 rep points, I got mine set to every 250 rep points, due to people collecting a massive amount of rep (As high as 3,993 points right now, or 63,956 if you include the fake username hack account). Admin can pick his own rep power, or use the same settings. Once I gave myself 666 rep power. Oh the n00bies HATED me for that!!!

For example, if I saw a rare wacko-wana-be post, and I reped it, you would get two for my rep points (275). Come October 27th, it would be worth three points, when I have 1337 posts, it will be four points, er 1,000 posts to make it four points, and when I pass 299 on rep, it would be five points. If I de-reped you it would only be worth 2 or three points (There worth only half as much.)
