This maybe a little old or something. But since myspace added the "approve comment" thing for all new comments, are those myspace gurus getting fucked over? It makes sense, but I don't mind I'm sick of ringtone spam.

They only make the person approve the comment if it's got embeded media in it, or loads of links, or they have their profile set to having to approve comments.

Doesn't make much of a difference.

If you have the right material for the myspace crowd, it still works. For instance, I print some personal myspace business cards that many people enjoy.

Its effective in the same way spam email is: it is so cheap to send that even one or two people who signup can make profit.

If your product/service lends itself to the myspace crowd (mostly young people), and you use it smartly (by not spamming) it can still work great. I know a few people who use it as part of their marketing strategy and make some good money from it.

Bleh MySpace traffic is crap. And Tom has taught all the kids to think everything is spam.

If you're not posting bulletins about your new pictures or asking for comments then it has to be spam! Right kids!?

All MySpacers want is an ego boost. they don't care about anything else.

Did y'all know that Tom lies about his age?

MySpace marketing can still be effective but it has to be totally marketed toward the MYSpace crowd. I just ran a advertising plan for a friend who has a product geared toward that crowd and she made a few good sales. It all depends on what you have to offer and how you market it. Straight up and honest instead of trying to get around the system seems to be the most effective.

Not all myspace accounts' comments need to be approved.

Friend adders is all I can think of that the MySpace crowd would want. But I think just about all the friend adders are crippled now.

Yes it can indeed. People just need to make the distinction between myspace marketing and spamming myspace - two totally different animals.

What has become useless is the submitters and spam software, ie The Bulk Coment Posting, Bulk Bulletin Posts, and the like, as captchas and confirm buttons have killed these bots. Most of these are now outdated because MySpace updates so damn fast.

The Whore trains and the like are now being crippled because of the changes with images in profiles, I don't think MySpace appreciates all these sites hotlinking to the profiles.

Bulletins suck because no one reads them and the bulletin post doesn't stay on front page for long.

I just use my Profiles for posting/embedding Youtube videos on autoplay, thus I get 1000s of plays within a day or two.

Sorry I realise that this thread is getting old, but I just wanted to add my two cents worth.

Myspace marketing can very well still be effective dependent on your websites niche. I think Facebook is the new 'thing' though, and have heard a few success stories. Depends what your sites about I guess
