Letting the wives drive the ship....

Just curious if there are any members out there that have let their wives or significant others run part or all of their Adsense/YPN business and sites? I'm working (for a salary  ) but my wife will soon be a stay at home mom.
My life is pretty much work now, come home, and work at night (on my adsense and YPN sites). Aside from my JR being my best friend, my little tablet pc is second in line when it comes to time spent with some-one/some-thing. The wife is an early bird anyway ;)
So I'm curious if anyone has handed over the reigns or delegated a particular role to their loved ones??? If so what do they do?

I don't have a 'significant' other but I would 'guess' this would be a good way to bring you closer together. Not only will it provide you with some 'free' time to spend with your family, but also provides your SO (significant other) a feeling of inclusiveness.

In some cases it's indeed a good idea but on the other hand I wouldn't mix a business relation with a friendship or partnership. It may sound like a cliché, but never do business with your own family does bare some truth, atleast in the examples I've seen. The reason is that you can ruin such a relationship more easily, eg. by not paying back loans, by wanting to follow a different business strategy, by mistakes or wrong choices that are made by one party, etc.
My parents and brothers are or have all been self-employed. One of my brother ran a restaurant with his wife but because of having different views on how to run the restaurant their relationship went downhill. He also got a loans from my dad which he never paid back, so that didn't do much good either.

Personally I think it's best you do help eachother but don't get too much involved.

My girlfriend runs the majority of our Adsense sites. The fact that she can work whenever she wants really appeals, and we're starting to earn reasonable money from it too.

Agreed. Business is business and personal relationships shouldn't be mixing with business ones.

I have had only bad experiences mixing the two (not adsense, offline businesses... but it's the same idea).

No because we would not be able to agree on how things should be run.

I have my wife working on content for an upcoming site. It's a difficult road since she doesn't seem to have the same level of interest. For me, I get into the novelty of everything and it's a hobby. For her it's work and since it currently is low paying work the motivation level is low.

I take it from your post then, that a SEO is really a "significant extraterrestrial other"

These technical abbreviations are so hard to figure out ;)

Since 2 months ago I hired my girlfriend to work for me. She's now designing stuff for my websites and I have to say that we are better now than before because I pay her better than her old job ;) and this job is less stressful.

That is my case, but I guess that it depends on the couple, we almost never fight and definitely think that a money or business disagreement is not a reason to fight against each other.

I think if you look at famous successful collaborations such as Hewlett/Packard you find that one partner was Mr. inside and the other was Mr. outside. So if you are the programmer/systems person and your associate handles design and graphics it might work out.

My wife helps me out with writing and research on promoting the sites.
