Lightning storm

    Well, my computer was just turned off for the first time in 2 months. We just had a reallllyyy bad lightning storm (but very quick). anyway, our neighbors tree got hit by lightning, but it didn't fall over - all the bark was stripped off. i'll post a pic in a bit :)

    it looks like a giant peeled banana

    My neighbor lost this tree due to lightening. They had trouble getting someone to take down. In fact a limb fell and broke window in their house before it came down.

    It's pretty amazing how it split the bark and left no scorch marks on the main tree. Scary, but very cool.

    when hubby went over to talk to him and look - the lightning bounced off a tree behind it before it peeled that tree. the tree behind it has one strip like that.

    very freaky - i had no idea trees could do that.
