Link Unit Placement

Discussion in 'Placement / Reviews / Examples' started by Ponynugget, Aug 18, 2006.

Just experimenting with link units on my site. Currently I have it placed under the categories section...

Does this violate TOS? I've heard some great success stories with link units but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    Cheers,

Well unless google doent catch u or some does not report you i guess you are pretty safe...

also some say that placing a picture next to a adunit is against the google TOS, but if you notice everyother site is doing that... maximum returns..

Under the category i have seen many and well check this site out

100-downloads.com ** reported a week ago no action from google yet, the biggest breach i have seen so far

You're in violation! Change that "categories" heading above the link unit to either "sponsored links" or "advertisements".

This is the thing. I don't want to be on the edge and hoping that I don't get reported/caught. Effectively speaking I want my site to be 100% TOS-friendly :)

I don't think images next to ads is against Google's TOS. As long there is a border or line seperating the two it should be fine. In my case I've added a faint but visible grey border to the ad.

    Thanks for the reply!

EDIT: Thanks FUCA925. I've now removed the link unit altogether.

I'd drop the borders too. I agree with the others you're right on the edge of the program policies but with the fixes they suggested above... looks good to me.

I've added a link unit towards the top of the page. This should be fine now, right?

    My site.

Well i also play to start an arcade pretty soon,,, personally i feel the link units (unless merged within the layout) would not attract much clicks...

Why not join an affliate program with one of those free multiplayer gaming sites and have their banner ad up, last one i was interested in was paying 1$ per sign up

I would probably have them where the categories are.
