Linkedin

I've been looking around for a while now, and I have noticed that while there is a lot of talk about which social networks are good for business, posting articles, or just to connect, that no one ever brings up Linkedin.

It is a fairly large site now, it is full of professionals, and there are groups for all sorts of businesses. Does anyone on here use Linkedin? Or is there a reason that no one here seems to mention it?

As most of the profesionals have quality accounts in LinkedIn, they dont talk much about the site on the net or you can say dont have much time. The most number os people talking on the net are all about facebook or google or bookmarking sites. But very few are aware that LinkedIn is also slowly and steadily making its way to the top

 

See when I want to market my site to professionals I use Linkedin, and there have been times when I have gotten hundreds of unique visitors from Linkedin, through the use of it's groups. It's a bigger site now, so it's harder to get your message out there, but it can be very helpful.

 

For me I find that I am overwhelmed by the amount of groups on Linkedin. I find it useful for professional networking on a high level but have not had much luck listing my personal sites etc.

 

I use it. It's a little more professional than facebook. There are some great groups on the site. Top domainers are on the linkedin.

 

Yeah, if you look hard and define your search for groups, you can find really large ones that are prefect for targeting a niche, or just getting useful info from other professionals.

 

linkedin is for people who have actual resumes not some random forum on the internet (for which a site like twitter is much more appropriate)

 

You know what Pixel that is a pretty good point. But before I had become more embedded in the online marketing world I was using the group function of Linkedin and it was very helpful. But you are right, it is more geared towards professionals with resumes, but I wouldn't say that it's only useful for people like that.

 

LinkedIn is great if you're starting out and trying to get a few choice contacts, or if you're a potential employee. I actually found a bit of work through linkedin without really intending to.

Yea I agree, its ideally suited to Business-to-business traffic. I imagine its ideal if you're a supplier or something. I combine it with conferences too, its great for keeping in touch with people you've met. Facebook is a little too casual for that type of thing.

 

Yup, basically just a Facebook for professionals. Has a lot of uses to it, but not really any of the fun time wasting stuff you can do on FB and Twitter.

 

Linked In is a good professional social networking site that is used in many ways - maintaining professional contacts, finding business opportunities, asking or answering questions related to business issues, taking part in discussions, etc.

 

I like LinkedIn and Plaxo for business related groups.

 

What is Plaxo I've never heard of that.

 

It is lot more professional than facebook and twitter. I take advantage of their groups which are pretty good.

 

I use Linked In posts for doing surveys, gleaning advice and sharing "best practices". Think of the site as a resource others will use to check on your credibility.

 

One thing I would suggest if you're wanting to network on linkedin, is to answer questions and try to give the best answer possible.
That's a great way to get your name out there by potential clients.

 

Linkedin is a more professional based website and more over its all the professionals who use it. I think compared to all social networking sites, Linked in is much better which is now gaining popularity.

 

Linkedin can be used to generate revenue and grow business - and it can be helpful to you for finding opportunities.
