If you want to start a logo design service, first of all you must alert that client are always right.

In logo design industry, format like eps,ai,psd it the most common. For me, I will always use Adobe Illustrator to design a logo.Photoshop is only for raster image just like Photography editing and so on.Always used Ai for logo design...

Maybe your client already know which file is the best for logo design than yourself?:D..

you'll have to use something like illustrator to provide .ai you could download a 30 day-trial on the adobe hompage and create the file and then decide if you want to buy it or not

I guess you will need to design them using Adobe Illustrator. There are a lot of services online which can convert your JPEG or GIF files into Adobe illustrator files. You may want to download, crack or just use the demo to get what you want. I don't think there is a default size or something for a logo, it all depends upon the theme design and individual requirements of the webmaster. Whatever may be the size he will need, if you design in adobe illustrator all that you will need to do i just drag and change the height-width of the image. That's why logo's are done with illustrator.

I hope this helps. If you need any further help, PM me. Glad to help you !

ok so I will use illustrator to create logos and that way I will get .AI files.
but how would I get the PSD file and EPS file which my client wants?
Do I have to recreate the logo in photoshop again? I am sure there is an easy way.
    thanks.

You mean Illustrator can save the files as PSD and EPS also? I don't think illustrator can save the file as PSD.

When designing a logo, you should provide the finished logo in three sizes. Small, medium and large. Also provide the logo in a few different color combinations, most importantly, black on white background and white on black background.

    Good luck in your design.

From Illustrator to Photoshop is a bridge : EPS
Create the logo in Illustrator and save as .AI and .EPS
Open the .EPS in Photoshop and save it as .PSDThat's all.
BTW Photoshop is not for logos.Use Illustrator, Corel etc for logos.
