"LOL" <-- Please Die.

I'm officially sick and f-ing tired of hearing people type LOL on sites, or in IM chats. I don't know why but it bothers me so much. No one laughs out loud at their computer, even if it is that funny. And ROFL , c'mon lets get real. Rolling on the floor laughing? When was the last time you rolled on the floor for any reason at all? Besides extinguishing a fire off of yourself, if that.

Do I share these feelings with anyone else, or am I all alone on this one...?

It is just net slang... what you really should be sick of is seeing people posting 10 smileys after they finish their post

I certainly don't roll on the floor and laugh, which is why I have never typed "ROFL", but I have laughed out loud before. Not at a high volume, but out loud none the less. So, I don't see any problem with people or myself using "LOL". I can understand you being tired of seeing it, but unfortunately (for you), I imagine people aren't going to stop using it.

You're not alone, I too hate this 'LOL' and 'ROFL' rubbish.

Smilies I can handle, they're a short-hand way of conveying facial expressions or vocal intonations in text.

'LOL' and 'ROFL' are a short-hand way of saying "I'm a fucking idiot".

Rolling on the floor while laughing is not really me, but damn, you just don't know how I hard I laugh whenever I see funny clips and jokes man.

 

Hodgedup and some others here got me laughing out loud. Many put a big grin on my face with their comments, including this thread's first post. Haven't rolled on the floor laughing yet and certainly not whilst my ass was coming off. It's all metaphors anyway.

 

I think of a couple of times...


But yeah, LOL, ROFL (Or whatever) pisses me off too..

Although I do actually sometimes laugh out loud, I tend to just write Haha... Meh...

 

Maybe we can set a new trend and see how quick it takes over the net.

Any suggestions to replace those silly acronyms with?
