What are some good programs to make logos and other features to make a decent modern looking website?

I'm willing to pay for it if theres no reasonable free resources available

    thanks

I think, Program is just tools... :) .. it about man behind the gun... :)
Depend on what kind of logo you like to produce... If you need custom able vector, Illustrator/Freehand/CorelDraw wauld be cool... Merry Christmas!

Considering Photoshop creates raster images, it's a bit useless for proper logo design. You need a program which creates vector images. Illustrator is probably best, but Inkscape, although it doesn't look as refined, is still very powerful.
