Looking for a collaborative/tracking tool

Dear everyone,
I am working with a group of 12 NGOs operating in all corners of the world looking to establish a network to increase awareness of each other’s activities and to identify potential areas of cooperation.
One goal of this network is to develop some kind of an online collaborative tool associated with the network’s website to track the activities of the NGOs in countries. The staff of the NGOs in each country would update on particular activities on a semi-regular basis.
I am seeking your kind help in finding an appropriate online tool/software/system/platform to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The information would be about “activities” (the fields will be along the lines of: NGO, activity name, focal point, other organizations involved, budget, timeframe, goals etc.). Therefore, the information would be available on a simple page with a two column table or under headings.
'The requirements:
- Collaborative (i.e. anyone with an account can update it)
- The ability to sort the activities by country or by NGO
- A simple system (most of the people using it will have limited IT skills and I doubt there will be a need for scaling up in the future)
Some “nice to have” features:
- The ability to classify countries and integrate that into Google Maps so that each country could have a different color pin based on a classification criteria (set by the administrator)
- The ability to generate reports based on the information in the database
Considering I am dealing with NGOs, this would ideally be a free/open source product, or one of very limited cost.
