Looking for another source of income... Need advice

I'm at the point where I'll be moving out very soon, and I don't really feel good about having YPN/AdSense as my only sources of income (Always worrying about the possibility of being banned and getting totally screwed over).

I have over $30k saved up for a new project, but I'm not really sure what the best option is for an alternative source of income on the new site(s) I'll be setting up.

What are some of the best advertising options other than PPC?

Build up your affiliate income, from different merchants not just one.

Before you go chipping away at your 30k investment, you should first learn the ropes from someone who has already made their millions and continues to reap a monthly 6-figure check. People like Mike Filsaime, Derek Gehl, Jay Abraham, Mark Joyner, Yanik Sangil, Jeff Walker, John Reese and many more. Mike has completed his Butterfly Marketing program, Jay has his Mr.X ebook out and making headlines, Mark has been successful with his simple program, Jeff has his Product Launch Formula and John has his Traffic Secrets, which has made a $1million in just a few hours.

So thats what you could do.

Depends on your site. Different sites have different ways of income.

And how do you go about obtaining enough affiliates to generate livable income? Anyone?

I depends on your site. A few of my sites only need 1 affiliate and they produce enough for that site.

What about good old fashioned advertisers? Not AS, not affiliates, but companies who pay you a monthly fee for the joy of having their text link, banner or sponsored content on your site. Never sell this by the month. Minimum 6 months, discount for 12 months booking.

The advertiser idea would be good as long as you can get them.

I know this goes against the typical wisdom of this forum, but you should consider selling a tangible product in addition to running affiliate sites,
    etc.

Most of the so-called 'gurus' (terrible term) make their real money be selling information products. For example, Joel Comm. Sure, he has some great tips and has probably done well with AdSense he but he makes his real cash selling his info products. Otherwise, you wouldn't see them everywhere. It's an old school mrketing fact that products that DON'T sell disappear quickly. He has staying power, which means his products are selling like crazy.

Now, you could certainly set up affiliate sites and sell other people's info products, or find a niche and start your own. You don't have to be an expert, you just have to be a great researcher and dynamite marketer.
Remember that idiot with the question marks on his jacket? He's made millions selling grant information that's free from the Government. He just re-packaged it and hyped it.

If I were you and had $30K, I'd put some in the new ad marketing methods listed here, then take a chunk and create an info product for a niche market.

BTW, I'm new to all of this affiliate marketing, SEO voodoo and other stuff, but I made my real money in old school media marketing. That guy with the questions marks is a millionaire for sure, we sold him his airtime for his infomericals. Maybe he's not an idiot after all.

    Good luck-

    Mook

Talking about affiliates, the secret is NOT in the product itself. The secret is in the ownership of the product and getting other affiliates to sell it for you. Imagine if you have a 1,000 affiliates selling your product with a 50% commission and you do nothing but collect your 50% for months and months to come. And add a tier or two and sit back and watch the domino effect take place. That's what all these so called guru's are doing.

Ooops! I let the lion out of the bag. lol

On that note, can anyone recommend an affiliate management firm, that sets up the programs and helps monitor it?

Yes, yes, I know I could do it myself with software, etc. , but I have too many irons in the fire and would prefer to pay a fee to have an experienced company manage the campagn. Any ideas?

Adsense/YPN has always seemed like the lazy way out to me, you can do just as well and even better working directly with advertisers, unless you're in some sort of niche where you're dealing with businesses that don't have their own indie program.

You need to sell something real... either your talent (as a writer, artist , programmer or whatever) Or sell an info product, Or sell a traditional product (from cables to buttons to boats or whatever). The latter 2 are where the real money are.

I've noticed a large number of people jump into offering web hosting around this point. Lets see if you get suckered into it now! :D

Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

You should honestly take a chunk of your 30K and put it into some kind of investment(s) (stocks, mutual funds, etc.)
