Looking for ideas for AdSense placement on home page of article site

    First off the page/site design is not complete. I'm trying to figure out the best plae to put AdSense ads. I tried to condense the categories as much as I could. I'd like to incorporate the images inline with the ads, but I think it would stick out to much with that design.

    I'm open to brutal critiques. I know it needs help.

    Top links are blended well.. but the right navigation looks obvious that it's an ad (to me atleast). Maybe try changing the colors to orange instead?
