well on the index page i would say put some ads in with your content. the 468x60 banner ad in the header has never done good in that spot for me.

in your articles i see you have somthing like a 300x250 ad or maybe the bigger version but i think the border around it makes less people click it because it stands out to much and they notice it isnt part of the content. if i were you instead of having that ad on the right side i'd stick it on the left side it will do much better there i think.

also adding maybe a wider ad at the end of the articles might be good aswell i hear they do good.

First of all.... Let me congratulate you on getting your site so high in the Alexa rankings.... and so quickly.
My advice, (Since you already have so many visitors to your site), is to really hire a professional (Like a Joel Comm). Your site would need to be redesigned almost completely to get the integration of ads you need.
The people in this forum normally give very good advice, but, it is hard to separate that from people's "well meaning intentions"
For now, you can make a start by
    1. changing the top banner border to ffffff to match the background.
    2. make the ads text links only
    3. make sure the ads that promote your site don't show up on your page.
    4. remove the advertise here link.

I unfortunately don't have the time to give directions on all these, but, I'm sure someone can help.

And please, remember, get a true professionals advice on this matter.

I think Google already takes care of that. At least, that's what I have heard. Your own ads will never appear on your website.

Is it possible to do so? If so, how?

Am I ranking high on Alexa rankings??? I did not notice that.

I have looked at how other sites have done it. It seems that they always stick the ads to the left side. So I just followed the rest of the crowd.
I will give it a try and see if my CTR improves after that.

Thanks for your excellent advices so far.
