Looking To Move Away From Hostgator. Any Suggestions

HostGator's customer service and quality of services has gone down since they got acquired by EIG. I've been looking at some other hosting providers and it seems like I'm overpaying for my VPS servers at HostGator too. Hence its time to move.

I'm looking to move my main sites to a VPS or Cloud solution from one hosting company and the smaller sites to a shared hosting account from a different provider. Any suggestions on who to use for VPS/Cloud and who to use for shared?

 

I wound up with these folks. I had a client on there whose vps I had to tune. Good equipment but more noteworthy, awesome friendly support. http://www.iwfhosting.net/

My client has since totally bailed on all projects and his bill. They let me take everything over at the same price etc.

Its a shame about hostgator. I had to dump them last year for a # of reasons. The kept billing me for 6 months afterwards as well.

ferngullygraphics is quite good for shared
wiredtree has some good SSD vps plans that might be worth checking out.

be sure to chat to "interview" them before you signup to be sure that they are the right fit for you.

 

I will agree with you on getting over paid with hostgator for VPS hosting, there managed services have gone down and support is not as it was when Brent was incharge, so if you are not getting the service we pay for is always better to move .. I have done the same move my personal accounts to http://www.webhost.us.com you can also check out http://www.rshosting.com read some good reviews on mashable and WHT regarding this company.

 

In my view Godaddy is the best , m a member since 2010 not single problm faced. if u want i will give you some referal codes also

 

Never, in million years, host a website on godaddy. EVER.

Everything, from the business model up to the inordinate pile of shit I have to deal with anytime I want to even do something as simple as update a wordpress site for someone.

Big concern!! Hostgator support down so what else option are... Some webhosting co. provide customer support in additional cost i.e premium service...

 

WiredTree and InMotion Hosting for VPS.

 

Nima your new host depends on what complaints in particular you had about "customer service and quality of services". If you need help with something specific on the VPS side of things I would go with WiredTree. If you need help with your actual websites, performance, datacenter issues etc, it would require more fore-site for the next hosting company you want to deal with.

 

I'm with Nigel Lew on GoDaddy... I've had a terrible time with them in the past.

Im certainly convinced that i need to move away from HostGator thogh. Sad to see that they're destroying a once good company

Friends- I've had a bad time wth Godaddy as well, though on the economy hosting as it was shared (as many others are), used to keep getting malware (can't blame them too but that is one of the reasons).

Tried to move to Hostgator but they were worse.
Came back to Godaddy again , kept their economy plan as well as took VPS (which is working great , but I've taken unmanaged one which is cheap but once you start working on it , you will love it). These were just my 2 cents but now I'm happy with both the economy (as few other sites are on the economy hosting) and the VPS.

One needs to know the technology rather than disturbing the over-occupied customer service all the time.
