Looking to start making websites

    Hi,
I am interested in developing many websites. I would like to make a business out of it. I am just trying to seek advice in the first step to get on the right path. As of now I only know the basics of making a website but have been researching it for quite some time. Would it be a good idea to just hire the developing? I have a lot of ideas that need to be started on but im not sure where to start. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks kturn

    If you are serious about starting to build websites, or learning to build them, then there I would suggest the following;

    Find a cheap webhost
    Get some free HTML software
Use the W3C schools website for tutorials
Jump in and make some pages.

Once you have done that, you can look at something like Wordpress.

I would suggest learning a dynamic way of making websites. Use Wordpress or Joomla and learn a bit of PHP. It is not required to learn PHP, but helps. Joomla would be for larger sites and Wordpress would be for smaller ones. Good luck.

The forum uses a database, which goes hand in hand with the format of Joomla or Wordpress, which also use databases. In my opinion, this is the way to start out these days, not with static xhtml/css only. Starting your own forum. »

Wordpress is A LOT easier for a newbie to learn than Joomla is. Wordpress can be coded to do almost anything you could think of.

making websites is profitable for sure if you know the best way to do it.. but just since you you said you have many ideas to implement then in that case to see real results of what you are doing.. you need to start it small and once you start making small money then invest it with outsourcing the whole process to other people and concentrate on developing and improving websites even more with your ideas to see better and better results..

I found this "toy" they call it, : LINK
It uses a split-window automatic update to show you what you are doing with your code.

Check it for malware before installing it.

I starte creating HTML sites - now use wordpress for almost everything
    and it continually gets better
would not recommend joomla for a newbie - has a big learning curve
rcently put together a wordpress site with 90,000 posts - no problems

You can pm me for help any time.

Wordpress is normally the first option people choose. It is easy to use and flexible but does have some limitations depending on what your ideas are.

Joomla might seem complicated to someone who is new but it can be learned very fast.

Forums are a lot of work and I would not recommend someone new to start a forum.

Starting a blog, directory or article directory is an easy way to get an understanding of linkbuilding. You will need to build links so if you can learn to spot spam then you are less likely to spam someone which will make your linkbuilding efforts much more valuable.

Here is what I would do for each type of site:

    Blog: wordpress
    store: joomla or wordpress
    Community: joomla
    yahoo answers type site:wordpress
    forum: vBulletin-not free
dreamweaver is easy to use in adobe cs5, you could learn to create an html site very fast if you have that
directory: free=phpld or a paid one joomla with the sobi2 plugin
article directory= article ms for the free script not sure which paid script I would use

either way I would learn how to use dreamweaver so that you can make some unique templates after you get the hang or wordpress, joomla etc after a while you will start to notice the themes being used around the net and might want to create something unique, or you could just pay someone. anyways good luck, I know a lot about everything I have spoken of so contact me if you need some help, I will not charge you as long as you don't go crazy.
