www.desktopcar.net got only 0.70% at CTR,

I think current ad placement is good,

But... any suggestion for me now?

    Thanks!

Hey try to combine the use of ad units together with link units. I can only see 3 link units at the moment. One at the top, one at left and another at the bottom.
If I were you, I would replace 1 link unit with ad unit. Good luck experimenting.

There are threads somewhere on DP about sites with black backgrounds underperforming compared with white backgrounds. Somewhere I read of a 70% increase after a site changed from white on black to black on white.

Ironically, the problem may be in your site's completeness. People on your site are looking for car pictures. Which is exactly what you are offering. A lot of them, spot on. There is no real need for people to click the ads since:

    - Your site more than likely fulfills their need
    - The ads are not really niche-targeted (No 'car wallpaper' ads are there?)

Consider a new niche or add a section for mobile wallpapers, which you chock full with affiliate links.

johnnie is right, I recommend putting the ads that you put under the post of pictures on top of them. This will make users see the ads first and maybe never even get to your actual content
