Low CTR, please help

I use Ad Sense and get a fairly decent amount of traffic on my An American in France blog. Anyway, take a look at it. I'm going to need your help.

How do I get more clicks on my ads? Is the placement bad or the unit sizes I've selected no good? Would it be better to change some of the colors?

Thank you so much for your help. This blog is one with the lowest click percentage, but receives one of the nicer amounts of traffic.

    Thanks! Melanie

The placement looks ok but it seems that the ad unit doesn't blend in well with the content. It has its own font, color and border which makes it recognizable as an ad.

This kind of placement is not good enough especially the ads on the side bar which i believe the CTR is less then 0.1%. I will suggest you put the ads in between the post.
Anyway, you need to make change on the ads placement to get the best CTR, You do have great content and i believe you able to get better CTR

To maximize CTR you can put ads above the fold.
Put your ads above the fold so that your visitors will see them. Many visitors will not bother scrolling.

I made some changes to the color.
Alex2, I do have some ads above the fold. I just didn't want to put a whole bar of ads up there because although I'd like to bring in some revenue, I'm not going to risk readership over it.

What do you guys think about it now. The new ads are showing up now.
