Loose ad borders. Make background color of the ad same as the underlying section of the page. Get rid of slideshow section (or move it) - it's occupying the best spot for an ad. Use non-AdSense ads in header. That location is not great even though it's the highest on the page. But because it's the #1 in your HTML code, Google puts best paying ads there so you end up having more CTR on ads with less CPC - you have to reverse that. C'mon dude, borders and colors are such basic settings - even Google tells you what to do about it! Do some basic research!

I like your placements very ideal to have them there. One question where is most your traffic coming from?

I am using only 1 ad unit and the CTR has average about 10%. You might want to consider testing it since your CTR is already low now. A good example would be http://www.4slicetoaster.org/

Your site is clean in design, I like it. Ads placements is OK. You can focus on drive traffic to your site. Try to link exchange with other similar content site with you.
