Low Hanging Fruit

So my teacher for my web design class was talking about low hanging fruit. Which would be keywords that have lower searches but where you can therefore possibly get more business. He said that it's good to use keywords with high results as well as some from the low results. Any comments?

it is always wise to target the widest range of keywords possible

one often finds that less popular terms convert at a much higher rate than the more generic, highly popular terms.

 

it's important to write a script that writes the referring URL to a cookie, then when yo uget an order in (or some other creative method) you can then add that value to the order.

it's wild when you see orders come in fore obscure terms.

but targeting obscure terms can be dangerous ... most times nothing beats getting loads of clicks.

 

It usually takes a while to get a high rank in Google, targeting much less competitive, but extremely relevant can help alot for example 'buy jade Jewelry' + 'buy jade Jewelry in hawaii' 'will be much easier to get a high rank, produce much less traffic and have higher sales conversion- It also slowly raise you for your important keywords, ita good way to get some decent (but usually much smaller amounts of traffic to begin with)

Oh my god you are calling me a 40 year old man? That's harsh. Actually I am just starting a jewelry store and am completely new to this. I actually decided to start my store because of the intro web design class that I took which was very brief but sparked my interest. A friend recommended this website and I am learning a lot from it.
