Mac OSX - 10.4 - Tiger

On Friday April 29th Apple unleashes Tiger, the new Mac OS X update. Is anyone else excited?! I'm going to the Apple store on Friday to get myself a copy. I usually just order it online and get it a little early, however I wanted to try the crowd thing this time around. :)

I'm really looking forward to Smart Folders in Mail.app and the Finder, Spotlight and Dashboard. You can check out my blog post for more information.

Ill be excited when Shawn converts the PR widget to dashboard. Exciting for me is the wrong word. Anything that is quicker + easier + more reliable will be a good thing and I am sure it will achieve all of these ;)

Tiger is pretty bad ass... I haven't gotten into it to much, but at first glance, I can't figure out a way to make a widget stay on without toggling to the dashboard mode, so the PageRank Widget might be pointless.

I was worried about that Dashboard feature. But hundreds of Mac Geeks will be working hard this weekend and find a way by next week. ;)

Argh! Still processing. I guess I won't get it by the weekend. Is this how it usually is for Up To Date orders?

No, if you pre-ordered it from Apple.com it should arrive tomorrow.

Wait, what do you mean by Up To Date?

Everything is excellent in Tiger. Ok, so I was forced to do a clean install, however it was a blessing in disguise. I haven't gotten to play with all the features in depth yet, however Mail is much nicer and everything seems speedier. LOVE IT.

Oh and I've seen how to keep a dashboard widget on screen at all times. ;)

I purchased a new PowerBook the day after they announced Tiger. So I got to order my copy for $9.95 plus tax. It's in transit so I'm still waiting for my copy!

not exactly user friendly, I guess I'll keep Konfabulator for now then and have both running.

If you try it let me know what you think. I just found it on another site so I'm not sure how well it works.

OK... you mac gurus out there, here's a question...

I've been thinking about getting one of those mac mini's for my wife to replace her laptop which is pretty much just static in our kitchen. My problem is that I have all kinds of PC Software - quickbooks, MS Office, etc. that I have invested some serious coin in licensing.

Its been a while since I've done anything with a mac, but I seem to recall you could pretty much run any windows software on it a while back. Is this still true? Or is that just "most software" but stuff like MS Office and Quickbooks are apps that you really should have a native piece of software for?
