I am a big fan of SmartFTP as well. On Mac OS X though, my personal favorite is CyberDuck. It's opensource and it has saved me a lot of time when a hacker hacked some of my directories, and CyberDuck showed me what the date stamps were.

In the past Fetch was a favorite, but it is not free and it seems that CyberDuck's interface is better.

I looked at Transmit, but could never pull myself away from Interarchy (formerly Anarchy), which I have used for years. Either one are good choices in Mac land!
