I have a 120 gig hard drive and one day i got a message that said i was running out fo disk space, so i checked and it said my hard drive was only 1.99gig :(

I have since re formatted and i have the same problem, is there any way to find out if i need a new harddrive or if it is just a small fault?

Any ideas on possible ways to fix it?

    Many thanks.

What he means is probably that there is something screwed up with your hard drive's BIOS...?

It would help if you can tell us what brand your HD is. Is it an IDE drive, or a SATA one? Also, you say it is 120 GB. Is it running on RAID?

You can try repartitioning it. Use the unused space to create new partitions. Use a program like Partition Magic - one of my favorites.

If this is a hard drive you have installed yourself.

It may be to large for the BIOS on the motherboard to be read correctly, quite common with older machines.

If the motherboard is not to old a BIOS up-grade may be available.
