If you mean how to get a presence (e.g. make a Facebook profile about your business), then it is no different than making a profile.
If you mean how to conduct an advertising campaign, then speak with their ad department and they should guide you.
The big companies generally have minimal account size requirements though.

For example with facebook you can create a fan page that runs just like a normal facebook profile page, only it is for your business

creating business profile in facebook is too easy ...but in other social networking site may or may not allow to create both profile ie. business and personal profile ....there are only 1 option to create a profile so you can creat your business profile instead of personal profile

You can use any networking sites to create a business profile. You just have to fill out the registration form, instead of using your name just use your business name. In facebook, you can create a fan page for your business.

There is an option called "Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business." in the home page of Facebook. You can choose the best one that suits your business and can follow the procedure as such you do so in creating personal profile. You can add friends and share links.

You probably want to make a Fan Page for your business. Go to Facebook and check out Fan Pages from Red Bull, Groupon, Coca Cola, etc.. Better yet, is there a company that you're already familiar with (smaller)? Check and see if they've made a Fan Page, then on the bottom left hand of their page click on "Create a Page".

Try to make page with your site keywords. And then try to promote your page on other related pages of your category. Facebook pages are great sources of traffic to your site..

Linkedin is probably the easiest place to do this but I've seen it done on blog sites and Facebook as well.
