Im trying to get a picture down to the specifications that dp allows for an avie, but i can't get it down to it's standards. even when i set the dimensions super small and have the shlttiest quality, it is still too large in size.

    any recommendations?

80x80 @ 72dpi - save it as a GIF or JPEG. Even a 256 colour GIF or 100% JPG should be within the filesize limit.

If you're trying to upload an animated gif, give up now :)

maybe it's a stupid question but are you sure you are not saving it as bmp? cause that makes a heavy image, with an image that size and the right format you should be able to get a very small file size, even 2kb.
As said by other, just post the image so we can help you.

@ emergencypornstar ... just a tip regarding your blog. You're using large images that are scaled down using html. This is crazy. You've got at least 7 images on your front page, all of which are 500kB+, this adds up to a very large filesize for a single page - forget about anyone on a slow connection, they'll just close your site instead of waiting. You should at least resize the images to the size you want to display them at, this will reduce your page load times, and will make people far more likely to stick around and browse your site.

If you're using Photoshop you can resize your images by going to Image > Image Size.
After you've done that, go to File > Save for Web and Devices, and select JPEG at around 50%- 75%.
Your website will be much more bandwidth friendly :)
