    INTRODUCTION

    • Bihar is presently the poorest state in India, in terms of economic indices. The land in the plains of Bihar is very fertile; and Bihar has the potential to supplement the reserve food stocks of India in light of the Global Food Crisis and the large population of India.
    • However, the resources of Bihar are being plundered by the large multinational companies; which export most of the agricultural produce out of Bihar.
    • The multinational companies export the agricultural produce (prepared in Bihar) to their respective countries or to other locations outside Bihar – citing poor infrastructure as a real cause – and the residents of Bihar being forced to migrate to places outside the state to other places in India invite considerable resentment.
    • The residents of the state are left out of the phenomenal profits that could accrue from the food processing industry, because very little or no raw material remains in Bihar which can be processed by the residents of Bihar.
    • This situation is being sought to be addressed by the proposer of this Private enterprise in Bihar, a 38 year old serving officer of the Indian Army; with the grace of HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar; Founder of the ‘Art of Living’ Foundation.

    THE DETAILS

    • Broadly, the plans envisage providing the required guidance, finances to the residents of Bihar, and the required infrastructure in Bihar required for carrying out Food Processing activity.
    • The essential funds for these plans are planned to be procured as donations or grants mainly from High Net Worth individuals (Indian, Non Resident Indians and from around the world) and from large Multinational corporations (of Indians, Non Resident Indians and from around the world).
    • The detailed description of the plans is enclosed in the attachment.

HOW MUCH IS THE ‘Art of Living’ AWARE OF THESE PLANS

    • The proposer of this Private enterprise had gone to visit Bangalore Ashram of the ‘Art of Living’ (taking Leave of absence from his service) along with Ten volunteers of an NGO in Madhubani district of Bihar – from where the proposer belongs. The Projects Department, YLTP, Sri Sri Agribusiness Academy are all aware of these plans and support them wholeheartedly
    • However, the requirement of the initial funds being minimum $ 20 Million (Rs 100 Crore) the management of the AOL is apprehensive of the funds becoming immediately available – though it supports these plans in all respects

    HOW YOU COULD CONTRIBUTE

    • By getting a recently retired Full Colonel of the Indian Army between 45 to 50 yrs; to contact the proposer of this enterprise at bpfp@rediffmail.com
    • Such a recently retired Full Colonel of the Indian Army should preferably be from South India (ideally Bangalore) or planning to settle down there, and with some MBA qualifications devoted to HH Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
    • By passing these plans to parties who, according to you, might fund these plans.
