Every time I download a file off the internet, my computer saves it as a wordpad document.

How do I switch it to a default setting for Microsoft word.

It's driving me crazy because I have save everything, instead of just viewing it.

It sounds like there was a installation error for word. All .doc and text should open by default with word if you have a valid install.

PLEASE NOTE THESE INSTR MAY NOT WORK AS MY WORD/OFFICE INTALL IS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY:
To correct this: Right click the word.doc saved on your PC.
    click open with
    click choose program
    select microsft word.

If for some reason Microsoft word does not show up, then reinstall the program.

Hold Shift key while you right click on the file, it will then give you an option 'Open With' then select Microsoft Word from the list and select the checkbox that says, always use this program to open the file.
