manual credit card billing

I wanna bill someone's CC manually, but without having his card in my hands [I have no plastic to go thru magnetic stripe reader, yet, I have all necessary CC info] -- is it possible to do it using some online service or hardware or something?

2CO, Paypal, iKobo or any other online payment gateway is certanly not an option, cause I am the one who needs to trigger billing, not customer (he or she just needs to pass me well secured & protected info).

P.S. Its obvious that I am credit card reader dummy, so maybe its possible to achieve this with it?

There are several ways to do 'customer not present' (CNP) transactions, both by passing the details to your card payment processor via the Internet and traditionally using an electronic cash register.

I suggest you speak to your credit card payment processor (you'll need to get one if you don't have one yet)!

You could always take a look at Paypal too.

@swordfish: i assume you use authorize.net? what are their fees for that specific service? and what payout methods do they use? (hopefully, they work with non-US people, so they support sending checks instead of just using something like direct US bank deposit)

@fsmedia: im not sure if Paypal supports what im speaking about, but even if he does, im one of those less-lucky ones, who cant signup there strictly due to their location :(

@dj1471: what concrete credit card payment processor do you have in mind, again, from perspective of this service -- ive been using iKobo and 2CO for a long time (cause they are really worldwide), but kill me if I saw any service they provide, similar to this what I need.

iKobo and 2CO aren't really credit card payment processors - they just handle online transactions. I'm talking about the kind of payment processors used by physical shops and the like.

You need to find a real card payment processor in your country. Without knowing where you are I can't suggest any, but normally major banks do it. Googling for 'merchant services' may also find you some.

Authorize.net is pretty much US specific. It may be available on some offshore processing platforms, but there are few if any.

Most any offshore merchant account will come with a virtual terminal included with the merchant account. Depending on your country and the products you sell, the fees could be slightly lower to much higher than what you currently have. If you are considered a low risk business, then you could be saving money over 2checkout or Ikobo. The drawback with an offshore merchant account is that there is always a setup fee with the processing bank.

3rd party processing companies like 2checkout, Ikobo, Paypal etc don't have virtual terminals, because it opens up a huge avenue of fraud that they cant control.
