With the amount of people it would draw if it was a full event (More people will go then usual just to show their support) would they have the full facilities to handle it.

Although it would be a big boom to bring tourism back, you have to have the infrastructure in place to support it.

Yes totally agree, if they however can pull it off it could also be a great fund raiser for the area, not to mention the drunken tourists spending some of their hard earned cash.

I would love to see it go ahead. I have just been there and it was difficult to keep control at times with full facilities. Their police force has been decimated not to mention all the reconstruction that needs to go forward.

There is no arguing that if it went off without any major issues, it would be a nig economic and morale boom that is needed.

I have been to Mardi Gras thrice and I have to say without 100% police force and 100% public service, there is no way the city is prepared for a full scale Mardi Gras....It is good to know they are having it though, it's huge revenue for the city.
