Marketplace combined with online shop

Hi everybody,
I'm new user of this forum and I would like to seek opinion and help of more experienced e-commerce users than me.
I run online shop with my own stock and products for some time but I would like to make part of my shop as marketplace. I would like other vendors to display their products in my shop and I would take only commission for the transaction.
My main question is whether vendors should be given possibility to set up the accounts in my online shop or they would just send me the list of products to display and I would put their products to my online shop. My shop works on Prestashop code.
I would like to know opinion of experienced owners of marketplaces and those who know the topic.

 

First of all, you have to make sure to offer value, why would some one would sell at your platform instead of Amazon or Ebay? You need to offer a combination of exposure, and take lower commissions than the 2 mentioned above.

 

This is exactly the plan, smaller commissions but local marketplace not global one.but could you answer my question: should sellers set up own accounts at my page or I should put their products to my page. What's the most common approach.

 

In my opinion you should set up a system un where sellers can set up accounts, you should use your valuable time on marketing, networking or some other important stuff.

 

You should not sell on behalf of vendors as that will be a waste of your time only for a small % of their sales. You should allow them to set up their own store and products which will give you time to market the platform and help increase overall sales and your commissions.
