I hope your having a good day . If you read my post and who I was referring to as 'broke' it had nothing to do with your tools, it was responding to Compar's comments about a broken Google! In fact, I've never used your tools...maybe I will now though . Prehaps my choice of words could have been offensive to some...

in this politically correct world so let me please rephrase some of my terms: physically or mentally challenged, lacking a stable presence of mind, confused and page cannot be displayed!

I knew that you were referring to Bob's comments about Google and NOT my tools.

I offered the example of my tools having problems yet still "functioning" to illustrate that likewise, Google can be broken yet still "functioning" (or in Googles case "fucktioning").

There is not computer software out there that comes out perfect the 1st release. There are always bugs that require updates and upgrades.

So, why do folks believe so deeply that nothing ever goes wrong in Google Land?

That is what amazes me.

Umm, ya as long Google's serving revenue is generated. On the other hand if they were broke they wouldn't be serving, IMHO. Technical issues is probably a better term but the lingo in this thread has made see what you mean by broke and PERFUCKED .

 

I've explained the meaning of "broken" a million times before on this forum and nobody seem to be able to understand.

The test for any mechanism or system is if it can produce consistent and reproducable results. It has nothing to do with whether or not a company is making money. We are talking about the "system" or "mechanism" of Google's algorithm.

It does not produce consistent and reproducable results. It is all over the map. Hence the "system" is broken. They can't even syncronize their data centers. They can't produce consistent "allin" records. They can't even count the pages properly on my InfoPool web site.

In the assessment of relevancy -- which they claim is their raison d'etre -- a page does not go from being in the top 10 or 20 most relevant pages on the Internet to #753 in one day. Google's algorithm, and vaunted ability to rank pages by their relevance, isn't working. The system is broken.

What is hard about that? The system is broken. How can anyone possibly argue otherwise.

Consistency and reproducablity of results is the keystone of a properly working system. Google doesn't have this. Therefore Google's search engine ranking system is broken. God that's not hard to understand. Why do I have to keep writing these treatise?

Today (and yesterday) I show the page in the 20s, up from the 700s

The "recovery" this page is seeing is tenuous at best because the "Allins" are STILL FIRMLY PLANTED in the 700s and 800s.

I believe that, once the "Allins" start to recover, that will be a sign that this Event is in it's final throws.

when you click on the Cached link you get...



That is because I changed the url of the page to the lowercase sleeping-bags.htm back in April 2004!!!!!

That's very interesting! I couldnt pull you up at all in an allinurl search from here this morning when I wanted to see that too.

 

Caryl:

I don't see widespread acceptance or interaction in any forums about the cache date issue that you have brought up. In fact I don't see lots of commentary about it here. I frankly don't get it. It must be one more of those things over my head.

Maybe we should spread it around to other forums and elicit more comments.

Actually I tried spreading comments about the up and down nature of the site over time and during google updates...and didn't get any substitive responses so that may or may not work.

Maybe if you would rearticulate your comments and ideas it might be helpful.

BTW get some sleep.
