    Dave,

THE only way folks will be able to witness these "cache anomolies" is if they take the time to record results on a daily basis.

To date, I know of no one who has bothered. So - no one has anything to say on the issue.

I have stated before (several times) Google says here...
    http://www.google.com/help/features.html#cached
THIS is why I find it important to KNOW which cached version of my page Google is evaluating.

I started a response to the cache date in a rate this post and hit the enter key before I finished.

I wonder if it would be beneficial to put up a page called Sleeping-Bags.htm and do a 301 redirect to current page?

    Hello Shannon,

I don't think it will be neccessary as I only found one referrence to the page with the very old Sleeping-Bags.htm url.

I think this was just a "peek" at some of Googles inner workings.

They will get things sorted out eventually.

OK Caryl, thats a very interesting thought about the age of things.

About a week before Jagger arrived one of my sites disappeared from 20 odd [when its allins were very high], just like Jagger, and I put it down to a duplicate page on another site that had long disappeared and which had appeared, all of a sudden, in the allinurls - the site does not exist anymore and has not for some time so this perhaps adds credence to your story

Hi Foxy, you may find this an interesting read. This also helps me understand Bob and Caryl's meaning of broke.

I must learn not to take things so literally and probably stand to gain more knowledge .

    Thanks for clarifying, Bob.

Just imagine how everyone would react if this update happened in the "real world".

In an instant, you have some major company or the city changing all the roads to go in completely different directions. All the businesses that relied on the old roads are screwed and now put into some back alley.

No one would dare day - well, you shouldn't have relied on that foot or drive-by traffic for business - you should have planned better. But thats the too-often retort I see on forums - welp, teaches you to rely on google doesnt it?. Next to the post "for every site that goes down, 1 goes up", it is the most irritating one.

And when not a single word is said about it - positive or negative - it raises even more eyebrows - to me, at least. Usually, I'd see a post on WMW from GG saying something positive about the changes - its goal or whatever - but this time, tight lipped as can be. Add that you get Cutts' blog asking for spam reports? Eh? Google can't tell what spam is now?

    "Broken" is very apt.

    Thanks Homer

Sometimes people [read G] just get too clever

If you have read this thread in its entirety you will notice inconsistancies that show human frailties....read human interference.. and as we all know when you shake a bowl of sand all the big bits surface and all the fine bits are below, which means that the wrong filter is being used.

As Bob has said for some time Google is perfucked :)

Yes there is a ton of fun reading if you follow the rel links :).
he he he! Perfucked or broke I am sure there are folks that are capitalizing on this right now until they resolve it. If they resolve it as they have the PR leak via redirect it could be seen as a niche!

There won't be many comments simply because the huge majority of people simply don't have any data of their own. Very very very few track pages within their sites to this level.
People simply don't know if their sites are affected similarly, so they don't comment.

I suspect that is 99/5% true. I certainly don't track my sites like Caryl tracks this. Does anyone who is following this experiment go to this extent on their own sites?

Its a lot of work. In fact I've thrown out some questions that would probably require tracking the competition for sleeping bags. MORE WORK!

It is a monumental task. Kudo's to Caryl who has carried this experiment. It takes a lot of work and consistency.

Several times I've gone back through the history to track trends in serps and allinanchor.

That is a big job. One or several of us could go through the experiment and track changes in links and serps and allinanchor.

Frankly we have never been able to say..."This is exactly the case...this caused this" That would probably be impossible considering all the different elements in G's algos.

    Regardless. Kudo's to Caryl

You should, if your going to, track all the allins....we already track the links on

    http://www.mcdar.net/SupportersDaily.htm

    and last years

    http://www.mcdar.net/links_2004.htm

Unfortunately there have been some gaps this year due to work but the last was on the 20th and there will be another today :)

I don't see any difference in the keywords I'm looking at. I see the exact same rankings across the board. Its gotten worse. A site (different urls, exact same content) used to have positions 1,2,3,5, and 10 on the front page now has 1,2,3,4,7,10 ?

I hope you are right. I'm getting just a tad frustrated with all this.

I'm more worried that some sort of BLOOP penalty has been put in; and that since I get a lot f BL's my writing articles and submitting them everywhere, that all that work is actually going to hurt me in the near future.

I'm not kidding when I'm starting to think about gettting a lot of inbound "click here" links LOL

    OK, I've had it!
EVERY time someone slips in the serps - some new "penalty" gets created

SO - hear it here first!

I am officially creating "McDar Rewards" this is the only reason your sites will advance in the serps.

If your site moves up - it must be due to mcdar rewards. (Yah thats the ticket ;) )

BTW - you can earn McDar Rewards with every pos rep given to me BUT you must be standing on your head when you give it! (NO EXCEPTIONS thanks Johann for the correction) :D
