McDar Experiment

I have mentioned elsewhere that some significant changes happened at this time, 12th May, in Google but what I found interesting was that nobody else saw this [which worried me] - in fact I only saw it about a week later [it was very subtle] by looking at the charts in KWT and I have published one here

Your March and May spikes seem to correspond to the spikes show on

Rank Pulse which indicates major changes in Google.

It is odd that when these things occur nowdays, there seems to be little discussion about it. At least not enough discussion to gather clues as to what Google is doing or has done.

Maybe the lack of discussion is because most are left just scratching their heads.

I have noted previously in this thread, that where we have seen drops in serps, many others have reported similar drops at the same time.

It is very hard to separate the effects of our changes and the effects of Googles changes.

Perhaps, this is a good thing that we are putting up two more experimental pages. It may help us see "Google effects" on all.

Interesting that this has pop back up today. I've spent an hour or so reading through the early posts - it's a very enlightening thread.

I'm going to try and finish reading next 50 pages this evening (I'm only up to page 25 so far)

 

Just now reached page 78 - wow, that was a marathon.

But it was interesting.

Have you discovered why sleeping bags page has fallen yet?

 

We moved mcdar.net to a new server and have since been having technical difficulties with our tools.

I have temporarily installed working copies on a different website.

Anyhows it has started moving back up at this moment - what you should do, if you want, is track the "Weber BBQs" as a comparison - and although we [as a group] did not set it up as a control, I sort of did, and, although not perfect [as a control], it does show some interesting [very] other attributes because the kw phrase is not competitive at all. [Control meaning in this instance something that stays stable without change and without undue competition so it is as much as is possible not influenced by other factors]

But well done for reading it all - I can tell you that I have read it through again and I am about to do it again as I find myself going back to pages to refresh the braincells [those that are left] so that I can remember what we are currently about!

The quick conclusion that one could jump to is that the forum sig links were hurting the site? It will be interesting to see if the improvement in SERP placement continues as the number of links indexed continue to diminish.

 

I was about to write the same...great minds think alike?

The page dropped from #30 to #46 on 6/12.

It really has only varied +/- 3 positions since then. (high #49 and Low #43)

So, this may only be normal Google Flux. We will see as days roll by if it continues to drift further.

I have a few like that as well. Basically, any of my kw phrases that are weak due to lack of attention (haven't gone out and gotten backlinks with those phrases, etc), fluctuate wildly like this. If given a tad bit more attention, they'd get more stable, I think. I don't know why it is so, but weak kws tend to do this.
