Our sites are run on a ecommerce backend, the 100 odd shops all had massive ranking and traffic losses from the 23d onwards when literally 90% of BL disappeared and yes, they were all mainly internal from between the sites and the portal most from the same IP blocks.

I do believe too they adjusted the link valuating criteria. Today however, some 20% of the original BLs appeared back in Google's link: search so it looks they are still tweaking it.

 

I find it odd that Googles Link:www.domain.* search would change from day to day.

That result is usually only changed during a BL/PR Update, regardless of what links Google is actually factoring in on a day to day basis.

 

It's what Shwan's tool shows me. Big change on the 22nd and somehwat smaller yet still significant change yesterday/today. Maybe they do override the 3-weekly to monthly updates when they realize they tweaked it too much and saw negative impact on relevancy.

 

Shawn's tool gets the results from the API. Do you see changes in backlinks to your sites in any of the regular datacenters?

 

a manual search indeed shows now 50 links for one of the sites. 2 weeks ago it was approx 140 links, 2 days ago it was 12 links.

Did you see a small jump back up in links the last 36hrs to any of the sites you monitor?

 

No, absolutely no changes.

Are you searching link:www... or link: www... ? The first one is the "real" search that changes only with the update. The second gives different results.

 

with the space: 152, without the space 50. I always used the one without the space.

 

This is very odd, indeed!

Has anyone else seen a change in their Backlinks since Friday?

The last Backlink Update was June 22/23 (last Tues./Wed) so there would be changes at that time.

Note: A look at Rank Pulse does show some significant changes in the serps in the same time frame. So, whatever Google did, it did effect many websites.

Several people affected who use this ecommerce solution did ask google so who knows, they might actually have looked at it. But that would be very very rare though.

But even with some BLs back, I saw more high ranks disappear I just hope all of this will be over and hopefully back to normal soon.

 

What I find interesting with the Rank Pulse results is the overall upwards drift in the graph - basically put a ruller on the average lower graph and it is pointing upwards - which means that Google has implemented a policy of instability in that the top 10 Serps are changing more often than they did.

Some sites dropped off the map

The only thing I could see was that their KWs EXACTLY (ie: plurals) were no on their page

What was the linking like to those pages? Were there several new links add within the last month or two?

If so, of those links, were there any that involved multiple links from a single site?

They weren't my sites - I did report the sites because they had dup content for that phrase so it may be that they finally got banned becuase they are no-where for the singular phrase that I reported on but are still there for the plural - which is what that page is optimised for.

 

Nice tool, I didn't know that my site made it into yahoo till now.
