Enjoy! We'll beat this mother to death when you get back.

BTW I'm still rolling around on the floor laughing at your explanation of how busy you have been that you offered on the SEO Chat forum. How come we never get any gems like that on this forum?

For those who did not see it on the SEO Chat forum Caryl said:

"I've been as busy as a one armed paper hanger with crabs". The mental image that conjures up is pretty hilarious.

This has been an absolutely perfect weekend in Waterloo. We had our local outdoor Jazz festival this week end and I sat and listened until almost 11:00 pm last night with simply a short sleeved T-Shirt on.

Caryl is probably less that 100 miles -- as the crow flies -- away from me across lake Ontario so she is probably enjoying the same fine weather.

Edit addition: I should add that I also was wearing pants :D

The one thing I've always wondered is, if she is Vicious Summer does, that make her Pussy Cat Winter??? You can't be Vicious all your life.

And how about Spring and Fall, or is San Diego to far south to have seasons?

I have been searching by 100 per page and Google has been reporting:
    www.mcdar.com/camping1/sleeping-bags.htm @ 168 (experimental page)
    www.mcdar.com @169

I assumed that the second page (main site) was the "additional" page added to searches when requesting 100 per/page.

As it turns out, The main site (www.mcdar.com) is the page at position 169 and the Experiment Page is really listed in position 185.

www.mcdar.com is listed in Google as having 153 Backlinks (88 of which have sleeping bags as anchor text)

www.mcdar.com/camping1/sleeping-bags.htm is listed in Google as having 325 Backlinks (all of which have sleeping bags as anchor text)

It now seems very obvious that Google has some "issues" with the links we are using to the Experiment Page.

Since we are due for a Backlink/PR Update very soon, I would suggest that we wait to see where we stand with reported backlinks at that time and make our adjustments (whatever we decide to do) then.

    What does everyone else think?

I'm happy with that recommendation. I'm reasonably confident that part of the present situation is a screw up on Google's part. I think we would be chasing our tails if we made a lot of changes before we give them time to get their house in order.

    Likewise - in total agreement.

As an aside I had the opportunity of sitting with a 14 year old and his 17 year old brother on Sunday night working on my computers at a party we hosted.

They both used Yahoo for searching because of the "crap" results they were getting off Google.

They both complained bitterly about the nonsensical results they were getting recently and the huge numbers of "directories" they encountered before they got any relevant results so they had switched - they did not use the adwords at all.

Now my wife had made the same comment so here were two different groups of people saying the same - that is starting to be a worrying sign!!

Does this mean people are going to start flocking towards MSN?

On a more serious note many people have echoed the same sentiments to me and I agree it is worrying.

Do you Guys think this is new or do people always bitch about search engines. It seems to me people have been saying "I can never find what I'm looking for" for years. Frequently it is because the have no idea how to search.

Your wife excepted of course Foxy :D

Yes there certainly always has been a level of moans and groans. Likewise I always put it down to inexperienced searchers. But recently people who know what they're doing have been questioning the relevance of the Google SERPs when the first twenty results throw up some glaringly unrelated pages.

Well Google must have been talking to Vicious Summer and decided, like she has, that they don't like optimized or relevant pages. :D

I think that is the nub of why I posted the comment - I had been soft peddling on the entreaties of my wife, but, to be truthful she had not moaned before, and, suddenly here were some young people who were computer savvy [impatient of course - aren't we all] making similar comments.

And, you know, this has been going on for some months now - you get an unsettled period - which returns your positions not just quite after a little time with a load of directories inbetween - and then another unsettled period, which may or may not return you to where you last were.
