Hi all,

I just read the first 19 pages of 99 pages of posts on this topic and found it very interesting.

I was wondering if mcdar or compar or foxy were willing to sumarise the experiment to date with some kind of a timeline of events and if possible major learnings?

My current thinking is very different from before as, you can imagine, probably, are McDars and Compars

 

True. We could write a time line but we sure couldn't write any conclusions. I know less about what is going on now that at any previous time during this experiment.

If as the changes would seem to indicate we are suddenly going to jump from 300+ to something in the 30 to 40 range, has anybody got an explanation?

My explanation is that Google fucked up real bad about 2 weeks ago and is starting to straighten it out.

Well then let "them" explain it, or admit that they fucked up.

 

Explain what Bob? Why don't you give us a summation at this point in the thread since it is so long that no one will ever go back to read and understand it?

Yeah probably - but that is no big deal.

I suspect that what Bob has said is correct. For example - In asking for opinions on a ski site that we have that was totally ahead on all factors that we know about, to all the 8 ahead of it, Bob came back with, as others did also, of putting more content on the page/s - Guess what? I went down 1 place! In all the other search engines including the new MSN I am where I would think I should be. Other pages from other sites show the same.

So we have a scenario

1. Google fucked up as Bob says
2. Google has changed the link weighting strategy in the algo
3. Google is creating purposely a situation of instability view Rank Pulse and notice the steady upward trend of the graph.
4. Google has someone who reads this thread, decided to play Goddle and create havoc for us mere DPers but forgot to switch the Goddle button across to the new Algo.

Yeah someone is watching, I think there is a special spider that Google planted on this thread, it is reporting directly to Larry Page's desk.

No wonder Bob will not give his summary Sergey is watching this also

Congrat's Dominic, after all the work these guys put in the thread you and I come in to grab glory and threadjack it.

Shawn will have to buy another hard drive for us clowns to keep posting in excellent threads, we just came in to get some of Compar's glory, right, maybe some will rub off on both of us.

I think this thread has more views than the Super Bowl, Shawn should start charging separate fees for advertisers in this one.

You could fill up Madison Square Garden with the views this thread has had, congrat's Compar, now can we get our summary?

This is the same that happened with the weber bbqs page - the only difference being it went some weeks ago (and hasn't returned).
