    I am finally back ... sort of. Still recovering from lots of stuff and too many projects on my plate ... but I'll try to check in a bit more often and regularly.

    Looks like I got an email on November 9th that the coop network site that had the sleeping bags link did not pass validation. You would think within 1-2 weeks of that date the BL's would start to drop and another few weeks later would be totally dropped.

    Let me know what you want to do now. I have updated enough of my sites with the new ad network code to where I can spare the ~25k weight I was putting into this.

    Someone please PM me if you want me to add back that coop ad network weight....

    Welcome back! - glad to hear you are recovering steadily.

    As you could tell from my previous post, Google is just "recovering" from it's latest bender! Things just seem to be settling back in. I would say we should wait on the links just a bit - just to make sure Google is somewhat calm again.

    Again, I hope others will weigh in their thoughts on this...

    BTW - I am still keeping this record updated Daily Fluctuations

    If you mean your advice to just be patient and not to start making umpteen changes to your pages or web site, I couldn't agree more. When they are moving the damn target is not the time to be making radical adjustments to your gun sights.

    Patient has just notified me that all 116 links can be found on Google

    HOWEVER

    He moved all urls to a diffferent server - and now all 116 are on same IP + he changed from Coldfusion to Java.

    It will be interesting to see if this effect our position at all.

    I have done a quick check around the forums and can see no evidence of a BIG Google "event" being reported.

    I have not heard from Foxy or Patient today so the latest experiment "events" I have are...

    Foxy's Daily Supporter's Report:
    1457 - 1/10/2005
    1416 - 1/12/2005
    608 - 1/20/2005 (most of this was from one of Foxy's sites 775 - 68 links - one IP address)
    628 - 1/23/2005

    and

    Patients recent server move that put all 116 of his links on one IP Address. (they were previously on at least 3 different IP addresses)

    There seems only to be a little shake up in allinanchor else the Top 10 Sites seem Stable.

    It seems like the experiment page is the one that moved NOT others.

    The Google cache for the page is January 25th (current).

    Also NOTE: mcdar.com was just moved last weekend to a new server which changed the IP address of the site! This really should NOT have had an effect on Google being able to find it though.

    I should also report that the sites have been redesigned to a new technology (jsp from cfm) and have changed almost all urls - as a result our spider traffic has gone through the roof and we have been having a few problems keeping the site accessible.

    Whilst things have been stabilising I expect it to be a few weeks before we are back to fully spidered sites. At this stage I cannot really say how many real links are in place as the old links pages are still indexed but gradually the new duplicate pages are being indexed.

    I'm not convinced that G will have responded to IP address changes yet as in the past I have seen it take a lot longer than 10 days to register this.

    If, my links are to blame for this drop, then until the dust settles I am more likely to believe that these links have been lost or devalued during our changeover process.

    Of course we don't have to guess as time will tell!

    Hi Patient,

    In the case of the mcdar.com move - the site was intact on the original server as well as the new server. The DNS change would simply point a visitor one way or another BUT they would still find the site.

    So, IP address change alone should not effect Google from finding a site.

    HOWEVER, in your case, changing a page from pagename.cfm to pagename.jsp is a whole 'nother story!

    As far as Google is concerned they are completely new pages. If the html versions are no longer available on your site, then for all intents and purposes, your site is brand new. Non of the links you had to those pages previously will be valid.

    Did you leave up the old version of the pages and just do a redirect?
