Hi all,

The "Allins" continue to be screwy right now. Todays report of position #34 and allinanchor #84 is misleading. Remember, I report the predominant position for each.

Here is how the results really are...

8 Datacenters report position #22 allinanchor #34

The cache of the page has been updated on nearly a daily basis since March 9th.

Just to note this because it most likely will be fleeting...

As of 3M EST, 16 Datacenters are reporting the experiment page at position #9 and allinanchor position #9.

Google is still in a major state of flux . Two of the web sites I monitor suddenly fell out of the top 200 today despite having been stable in the SERPs for months and months.

I wonder if we will ever know or be told what the hell is happening?

 

Bob,

While, this morning finds the experiment page still at the #9 position on 14 Datacenters, position #10 on 13 Datacenters and position #15 on 6 Datacenters, I cannot breath a sigh of relief just yet.

Under the circumstances, I can only take a deep breath and cringe while I await Googles next move. It would be nice if she was "done with us", but we can only wait and see.

Perhaps a sign that Google is done screwing around will be when we finally see ALL of the Datacenters displaying the same Backlink Update numbers.

This AM Google has 6 Datacenters still showing January Backlink results and 3 Datacenters showing February Backlink results. (these old Backlink results do not seem to influence the positions being reported on these Datacenters)

Has anyone seen threads in any forum that indicates that others have somewhat "landed" after having been flung around by Google since Feb 3rd?

This is surely an amazing ride. I wonder how many people not following this thread realize how radically rankings can change for a page whose content and backlinks have remained stable throughout!

 

EXACTLY, Patient!

Many folks have long since made changes to their sites believing that Google implemented some "new filter". If we had gone and changed our links, we would be hard pressed to figure out what Google changed or didn't change.

If we end up pretty much where we started from, we can only assume we have witnessed and extensively recorded the longest Google "tantrum" to date!

Note: I still don't feel safe enough to remove my "seat belt" just yet - but the only change from yesterday is Datacenters reporting position #15 are now reporting the page at position #4

IF the site settles near where it was pre 2/2/05 we will have witnessed the longest period of Google requiring bicarbonate of soda.

Google did make some changes. Caryl, the situation of your local client is an excellent example. I've seen other similar examples.

If the site doesn't settle then of course it leads to totally different questions. I'm still curious as to why this page - with this keyword phrase- has jumped to the extreme. Certainly many other pages for other keyword phrases haven't been experiencing any level of craziness as this page.

I hope this thing settles so we can move on.

Definately Google made some changes as the local clients site has been sitting solid at the #1 position since I first posted about it.

As far as the experiment page being thrust about by Google, if we end up pretty much where we started, then I think it was just Google being broke in some way shape of form.

There was never any evidence that the category or keyword search as a whole was effected like the experiment page was. Nor, could i find any realt thing in common between other pages experiencing a similar fate as the experiment page.

The entire mess seemed purely random.
