    I have a forum where only registered members are allowed to view and post. So my question is that does this effect the search results?

    I mean do the registered area results show up in search engines or not?

    No, the registered area cannot be shown in SERPs becaz the search engine spiders cannot visit your member only pages.

    it will decrease your serp because search engines will index what it see.

    you dont allow search engine to see your real content
