Has anyone ever had an official ebiz mentor? Was it helpful (or at least worth the money you spent)?

Or is it better just to hang out at DP all the time?:D

I am a skeptic in regard to being contacted by voodo guys. When they say they can help me with SEO and I see a pagerank 0 or low pagerank site, I think sure you can help me.

I think you would profit more from reading the boards.

You can learn an awful lot from good forums like this one. You can also learn a lot from GOOD training/educational/informational products, but it is not always easy to tell the good from the bad...and, there's a lot more bad than good out there.

You have to be extremely careful in choosing a "mentor". There are plenty of people out there who fashion themselves "mentors, experts, gurus" who are anything but...either in the extent of their knowledge and success or their sincerity and will take your money. A real mentor is not chosen with a "decision" and a checkbook, but is a relationship that develops over time. Save your money.

One way to do it is to build relationship with some people in forums, and if you get a good feeling about someone, YOU can ask if they could coach you. This way, you are the onw who chosse, instead of someone trying to sell you their coaching.

Thanks, you've confirmed my gut feeling. I know I'm ready to move another level up in my ebiz but despite wishing there was someone who could tell me to do X,Y,Z I know that isn't really the answer. Sometimes we need to just get off the treadmill and regroup.

And of course I know DP forum is always here for great advice and support.
