For example I have 2 different blues, is it possible (I use Fireworks) to merge the 2 and create a blended blue? If so, how would I go about it?

Well since i doubt you were looking for a photoshop tutorial on blending two images, since you asked for a fireworks solution to blending two colors... you can check out this tool that will give you the midpoint between two colors.
